Margherita Pellegrini of Cantina Fanetti, is the winner of the Cantiniere dell’Anno prize sponsored by Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The prize giving ceremony took place on Thursday 11th May at the Fiera dell’Agricoltura delle Tre Berte di Acquaviva’s traditional inaugural dinner, now on its 36th year. Born in Montepulciano in 1952, Margherita joined Fanetti in 1987 and has worked throughout her career in its wine cellars where she deals with bottling and packaging its wines with great passion and precision. The prize is a career prize awarded for distinguished service in this specific field for over thirty years in a single wine estate.
Wine estate employee of the year. Now on its sixteenth year, in 2017 the prize is designed to recognise professionals who have distinguished themselves in the wine estates, a historic profession with an original appeal linked traditionally to the Montepulciano area and to Vino Nobile, resisting in the face of the mechanisation of wine making techniques. As a living product wine is subject to change. This is why the traditional wine estate professional tradition continues to be so valuable.
